POSITION PURPOSE:

Fabricate, set-up, adjust and maintain production and prototype fixtures, tools and equipment involving mechanical, operational and electrical problems to ensure the equipment’s contribution to production, quality and safety standards. In addition, this position resolves mechanical, electrical and software issues with exisitng production automated and semiautomated equipment. The Specialist requires knowledge of mechanical, electrical and software control aspects of specialized equipment used in Production. Required strengths include teamwork, innovation and cooridnation to continuously improve quality, productivity, capacity and yield in our factory.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years experience diagnosing and troubleshooting a wide range of automated equipment problems, including welding, pneumatics, electronics, sensor systems and electrical systems.
  • Basic PC skills including MS Word and Excel

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with electronics and PLC’s.
  • Toolmaker certification or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of multi-axis robotic systems, vision systems, transport systems, product marking and decoration, packaging, and data collection systems.
  • Knowledge of integration, installation, and commissioning of automated/vision-based automated inspection systems in a production environment.
  • The ability to support/generate system documentation, including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics
  • Knowledge of electronics, PLC’s, HMI’s, and programming and troubleshooting
  • Ergonomics experience
  • Ability to create/update maintenance requirements and operator instructions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyze mechanical and operational problems on both production and prototype equipment, planning for & implementing corrective action as necessary.  Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain adherence to production, quality and safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot and refine various automated equipment to ensure the desired quantity and quality of production components and assemblies.
  • Perform tooling preventative maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment in accordance with established maintenance schedules, maintaining accurate and current maintenance records in accordance to established documentation procedures.
  • Test equipment on an established scheduled basis and after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime in order to verify proper production, quality and safety standards are attained.
  • Effectively and efficiently clear jams and set aside product for inspection and rework.
  • Examine, test and measure product from assigned equipment for quality specifications using various gauges and instruments in a timely manner.
  • Develop and fabricate detailed parts from a wide array of materials to achieve project objectives.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-driven automation equipment.
  • Provide technical consultation to other members of the department and the organization.
  • Communicate with production personnel in a positive and professional manner
